Located on the scenic North Shore overlooking Lake Superior, the Silver Bay Veterans Home provides skilled nursing care for 85 residents in a small town environment. Converted from a school, the home now has a town center and 4 neighborhoods using a north woods theme. One of the neighborhoods incorporates a specialized 25 bed secure dementia care unit. Trained staff emphasize building on the resident’s remaining strengths, while maintaining a safe environment. Staff follow a person-centered social model for care for all residents. The needs of the residents are met by caring, professional, interdisciplinary staff to provide 24 hour heath care. The staff works together to provide residents with programs individually designed to meet their physical, psychosocial and spiritual needs.
